NNR Global Logistics USA, a division of the Nishetetsu Group headquartered in Japan, is a global logistics company specializing in freight-forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, distribution, and supply chain. NNR USA is committed to driving operational efficiency and innovation through the implementation of new IT solutions, focusing on automating mundane tasks, enhancing data-driven decision-making, and ensuring seamless connectivity with their customers and partners.
Snyder Technologies partnered with NNR USA beginning in November, 2019. The genesis of the relationship was NNR’s search for skilled offshore development partner, and very quickly expanded into an IT and Microsoft CSP partnership as well. The ongoing relationship is a holistic approach where NNR is able to utilize Snyder’s resources and expertise in a cost-efficient way to further NNR’s ongoing digital transformation. Historically, the logistics industry has lagged in adopting digital solutions, resulting in inefficiencies and a lack of real-time data accessibility. The Snyder team possessed strong expertise in modern technologies that aligned with NNR’s roadmap, along with a fresh perspective on innovation. Under the leadership of Mac Sullivan Head of Technology and Digital Promotion and other champions, the multi-year partnership has fostered a more efficient, secure, and compliant IT environment for NNR.
NNR Connect is a comprehensive digital portal that offers real-time tracking, access to shipment details, documents, invoices, and a seamless booking process, greatly enhancing customer interaction and operational efficiency. Information that was once segregated across multiple systems is now available for both customers and staff, on-demand in an easy to use interface.
The Snyder team was instrumental in building out this flagship product since the start of the partnership. This involved navigating many challenges including interacting with complex databases, integrating with existing custom software's and legacy systems, implementing new DevOps processes, and collaborating with NNR team members from many functions and geographies.
NNR has made it a priority to focus on transforming their connectivity with customers, partners and vendors, along with automating rote work for their global staff. The Snyder team has been responsible for executing various projects in line with this mission, including….
Leveraging Raft.ai for Enhanced Data Integration:To further reduce manual data entry and improve the accuracy of shipment information, NNR has embraced Raft.ai technologies. These AI-driven platforms automate the extraction of critical shipping data from documents such as CI (Commercial Invoices), PL (Packing Lists), and SLI (Shipper's Letter of Instruction). By utilizing OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and AI algorithms, Raft.ai can parse document contents, accurately extracting and integrating data into our systems. This not only speeds up the data entry process but also enhances data reliability across our digital platforms, ensuring that NNR’s customers benefit from faster, more accurate logistics services.
APIs and EDI Integration:NNR facilitates data exchange through well-documented APIs and standard EDI configurations, supporting essential functions such as booking, tracking, and reporting, thereby minimizing manual intervention.
CargoSpectre Measurement Machine Integration:NNR’s integration with automated systems for capturing weight and volume information directly from measurement machines eliminates manual measurements and data recording, streamlining the logistics process. By integrating with the cloud accessible CargoSpectre data into NNR’s existing systems, a once cumbersome process is now seamless.
Automation of Rote Work:NNR has implemented RPA (Robotic Process Automation) to automate the updating of event information, significantly reducing the need for manual data entry and increasing both accuracy and speed
The core of any digital transformation rests on a strong IT foundation, and is another key area of collaboration. As part of NNR’s digital transformation, they’ve embraced the capabilities of Microsoft 365 and Azure, as well as modernizing infrastructure across their many offices and locations across the USA.
As a Microsoft Cloud Services Provider, Snyder accelerated NNR’s adoption of Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and Teams for national collaboration. Beyond specific projects, Snyder has remained a reliable point of escalation for unique issues, and exploratory efforts.
